The National Evaluation Series (NES)

The National Evaluation Series™ (NES®) is an assessment of essential academic skills, content knowledge, and pedagogy used in multiple states. Passage Preparation™ offers courses aligned to NES tests created by educators to support aspiring teachers. Candidates required to complete NES assessments for teacher certification can rely on Passage Preparation courses as the best study guides as they prepare for those tests.

What is The National Evaluation Series (NES)?

According to Pearson, the company delivering the NES tests, “400 expert, respected teachers, administrators, and teacher educators from across the country have participated in an extensive review of the content and appropriateness of the test competencies and questions.”

Further, the tests cover contemporary and relevant national content and pedagogy standards and can be taken at test centers around the world or can be delivered at your home, school, or office. You can learn more about online proctoring here.

Where is the NES Used for Teacher Certification?

As always, you should always check with your educator preparation program provider or with the state agency from which you are seeking licensure, but NES tests are used predominantly used in Arizona, Oregon, and Washington.

Study for National Evaluation Series (NES) Teacher Certification Tests

Studying for the National Evaluation Series (NES) tests can be daunting as the tests are hard to pass and require adequate time and attention to be ready to successfully pass the exam.

  • Enroll in the Passage Preparation courses aligned to the NES test you need to take.
  • Take the Diagnostic Assessment in Module 1 to help develop your Study Plan.
